Welcome to the South Face Road!

The South Face Road in Gippsland Victoria links the alpine resort of Mount Baw Baw with the gold heritage area of Walhalla and east Gippsland.

Upgraded in 2008 from a logging track to an all weather all vehicle access road, the South Face Road provides an unrivalled forest experience for motorists. From the catchment of the Thompson River the road takes motorists 30 kms through towering Mountain Ash rainforest  to the snow gum slopes of Victoria’s southern most ski field - Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort.

The South Face Road is also part of the West Gippsland Hinterland Drive. The Hinterland Drive offers the opportunity to experience Victoria’s magnificent forests and gold history with a touch of relaxation only hours away from Melbourne.

What you will find on this site is all the information that you need to make your journey on the South Face Road into a memorable experience.
